I’m going on tour!

We’ve packed up the trailer, my rider has specified green M&Ms only and my dressing room is ready, there’s a super hot groupie in there waiting for me… Oh, wait, no… that’s my husband (who’s still super hot) sitting on the sofa, and there are no M&Ms… damn, I wanted to live the rock star life.

I am going on tour though, a blog tour to promote Like You Read About, my debut novel.  The sites and dates are listed below, there is a chance to win a copy of the book at each of the sites, they will have their rules for entry and winning on their own sites.  I’m so thrilled and honored that these ten amazing blogs have agreed to host me.  I’m even get posting at a few of them, so you can learn my writing style, books I love, and find out how I describe my writing style in 140 characters or less…

Super busy behind the scenes

Hello All!  It’s been super busy here behind the scenes at Mela Remington.com.  We’re prepping for Stamford which required way to many submissions to CreateSpace, who knew the two itty bitty tails on the serif font of my T would get a book rejected so many times?

I’ve also ordered swag for Stamford, some really awesome rack cards, and a sweet banner.  The rack cards are likely to cause a stir, my graphics guy James at Humble Nations/www.goonwrite.com has done an amazing job with the covers for Dominion.  You’ll be getting a sneak peek of books 1-3 on the rack card and I’m hoping to have some snippets up as well soon.  Working full time and living the migraine life leave less time for writing than I’d like.

If you’re visiting over at Facebook or Twitter you’ll see I’ve been trying to be more active over there as well, please drop by, say hi, leave a post on the wall, I’d love to interact.

Thanks to everyone who has bought the book, and to those who have left reviews, I’m touched, we’re pretty well rated on Amazon 4.5 stars.  At Goodreads I’m at 3.77 stars and about 50 people have me marked as to-read, it’s an awesome feeling to know that there are people out there who have enjoyed the story!  If you haven’t left a review on one or both sites and want to share feedback, positive or not please leave a review if you have the time, I’d appreciate your effort!

So besides Stamford the other big news is that starting tomorrow I’ll be on tour, but instead of late nights in dressing rooms with groupies I’ll be touring some awesome blogs sharing the love and answering some of the truly interesting questions, thanks bloggers.

I’ll be posting the list of blogs and dates shortly, please stop by the blogs and stay a while, they are a diverse group and I’ve added a lot of books to my TBR from visiting their sites.

Huge News!

I am thrilled beyond the telling of it that I will be joining 34 other wonderful indie authors at the Stamford Author Event at the Stanford Hilton in Stanford, CT.  There will be a book signing, give-aways, a chance to win VIP passes to a mixer with the authors and the bloggers attending the event and lots of other fun stuff.

The most awesome part (besides the fact that I am still jumping up and down about being included) is registration is FREE, that’s right kiddos, zero pennies from your pocket and you get to meet and greet cool people like me, OK, so most are WAY cooler than me but I’m going to be there, please visit their site to learn about all the amazing authors who will be there as well as information on contests, hotels, registration, etc.  A huge thanks to Laura Howard and Jena Gregoire for organizing this amazing event.  Who knows, maybe I’ll have a completed draft of Dominion: Jane, ready by the event…

New Review by Three Chicks and Their Books

Thanks to our friends over at Three Chicks and Their Books for the great review.  I’m so glad you all liked it.  I’m working on a blog tour and am hoping to have more information on that soon, working a full time job, and a life and a family seriously eats into my author efforts.  Please stop by their blog, read the review, show them (and me) some love!

So it’s been very quiet, but it’s about to get loud…

really, really loud, because as of tonight we are live, on Amazon and Smashwords and should be live on Barnes and Noble tomorrow!!  We are ahead of the May 3 planned publish date because it turns out I’ll be celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary at sea, and publishing from a boat is a challenge.

You’ll also notice we have a new cover.  While I loved the cover James at Humblenations.com did for me, additional research and discussion showed that romance novels with people on the cover just sell better, it’s sad but true,  I tried to find some one who looked like Cora and Dan and had little to no luck, but in the 11th hour I found the perfect couple.

I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it!  Keep tuned for more information about a potential blog tour as well as my next project!

Chapter 1 Snippet

Here is an excerpt from chapter 1, this is unedited and the version which will be in the final published version may vary.  Welcome to the beginning of Cora and Dan’s love story.

Chapter 1

Wednesday, January 9, 2008, Dedham, MA

*alarm clock goes off, Gwen is walking through a spiderweb*

Cora reaches over and slaps the snooze button on her alarm, 9 more minutes, just 9 more minutes.  5:30 comes awfully early, and another restless night makes it seem that much earlier.  She floats back into that realm between awake and asleep, her mind drifting back to dreams of climbing up spider webs chasing something.

*alarm goes off, Howie Day is crooning along about the dawn, barely waking, tangled up in each other*

She reaches to slap the snooze again when it dawns on her, today is Wednesday, the second Wednesday of the month, and that means today, she gets to see him.  Snoozing is no longer an option, humming along she stretches under the covers, mmmm tangled up with him, a far preferable way to start the morning than getting out of bed on a cold January morning and heading to the gym.  Hell, with a full size bed you kind of have to tangle to fit, right?  OK, focus Cora, today is the monthly meeting; today she gets to sit across the big boardroom table across from him, Dan, Daniel Santagata.  In her entire work schedule, this is the one bright beacon of the month.

She hops out of bed, throws on a sports bra and her workout gear and grabs her gym bag.  Then she stops halfway down the hall, it’s THAT Wednesday, the gray slacks and black sweater in the bag to change into after a workout and shower on the way to the office just won’t do.  How did she not remember this last night when she was packing the bag?

Opening the closet, she stares at the choices.  A suit, far too stuffy, a dress, none of those will do, they are either too casual or WAY to dressy for the office.  What says “professional, casual elegance and you know you really want to ask me out, kiss me good night, have some hot sweaty monkey sex and live happily ever after with me”?  It is a lot of pressure to put on one outfit, isn’t it?  In the end, she settles on a red twinset and a navy wool skirt with a small red pattern, matching red flats and replaces her plain serviceable white cotton bra and panties with a red lace bra and matching underwear and garters with nude stockings.  This was it, the outfit, the armor underneath.  This was the one that would finally give her the confidence to do something more than smile, nod and say hello at the end of the meeting.  Yeah, way too much to ask from clothes.

Welcome World!

In the coming weeks and months this website will have information available for you, my readers on publication dates, book snippets and other groovy stuff.  I’m looking forward to being able to share more about my upcoming first novel, which will be self published entitled “Like You Read About”.  This book will be available to readers through Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords and any other self publishing site that will let me slap it up there.

The book is currently with some beta readers and some edits, I’ve found someone who will likely be working on cover art for me as well, so keep your eyes peeled for the cover reveal sometime in February.

As a self published author please keep in mind that the majority of dates posted will be estimated.

I’m so glad you’re here and look forward to having books for you to read soon!

Happy New Year to all!
